Adjunct Faculty Posting Spring 2024

Great Bay Community College is seeking qualified applicants who are interested in adjunct teaching at the College on a course-by-course basis; strong academic background is required.

Semester: Spring Semester

Adjunct Faculty: Veterinary Technology

The instructor will be responsible for preparing and teaching two 3-hour labs each week. The lab instructor will work with the instructor for the lecture to plan the schedule and content of the labs. The lab will reinforce material covered in lecture as well as provide additional instruction in areas like positioning and taking radiographs.

The course covers radiation safety, radiology machines and their use, positioning and taking radiographs of dogs, cats, exotic species and horses, screening for hip dysplasia, contrast studies, dental radiography and ultrasound.

Students are required to complete AVMA-CVTEA required skills in the areas of radiology, contrast studies and ultrasound. To complete these skills, some field trips to area clinics and farms is necessary. Previously used sites may be available.

The instructor must be a licensed veterinarian or a credentialed veterinary technician who has graduated from an AVMA accredited veterinary technology program.

The instructor will communicate with the department chair regularly and follow departmental policies. The instructor will participate in training for essential skill assessment of students following standardized criteria. The instructor will utilize Canvas in their instruction. Training and support is available for Zoom and Canvas.

Course: VETN 224G Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging

Adjunct appointments are temporary, for a specified contract period and may require in classroom or online instruction.

The compensation rate is $750-$900 per contact hour [or $47.00-$58.30 per clinical rate per hour if applicable]. Compensation will be determined based on the appointed adjunct faculty rank, which is based on education and industry and/or teaching experience.

The minimum qualifications for the position are as follows:

Education: Associate, Bachelor or Doctorate degree from a regionally accredited college or university in Veterinary Medicine/Technology awarded by an AVMA (American Veterinary Medical Association) accredited program.

Experience: Three (3) years teaching experience in veterinary science/technology and/or three (3) years industry experience as a credentialed CVT, LVT, or RVT (Certified, Licensed or Registered Veterinary Technician) or as a licensed Veterinarian in a small or mixed animal veterinary hospital.

Licensure: The instructor must be a credentialed veterinary technician who has graduated from an AVMA accredited veterinary technology program, or a licensed veterinarian.
