GENERAL SUMMARY: Reporting to the Vice President of Academic Affairs, administers academic programs, services, and operations on behalf of the college, and provides staff supervision in key areas. Works with the Vice President of Academic Affairs in the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of college-wide academic initiatives, programs, instructional services, and student learning assessment. In the absence of the Vice President of Academic Affairs, provides oversight of the academic division.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supports the MCC Curriculum Committee in ensuring academic policies and procedures are followed and that the College maintains the academic integrity of programs, including but not limited to serving on curriculum committee and working closely with the Registrar to ensure accurate electronic records for all curriculum updates.
  • Maintains the academic catalogue and annual curriculum updates for all academic programs.
  • Facilitates course schedule management, including low enrolled courses and yearlong schedule and registration planning.
  • Serves as the project manager for the federal Carl Perkins grant; develops and manages the grant budget to ensure expenditures are within the scope of the grant; insuring completion of all related reports. Strategizes with VPAA and Department Chairs on funding allocation and priorities; collaborate with Director of IT and Chief Financial Officer.
  • Serves as the point position in Academic Affairs for academic grant administration.
  • Serves as the liaison between Early College, Admissions, and Academic Affairs and works to expand Early College programs.
  • Supervises Business Specialist in charge of part-time faculty contracts.
  • Oversees incoming credit transfers and student Change of Major requests, ensuring accurate student advising and degree audits.
  • Facilitates updates and use of academic technology such as DegreeWorks, Banner, and Navigate, Works in cooperation with the academic technologies staff responsible for instructional technology functions and planning.
  • Facilitates the student academic probation/suspension process (SAP) which includes template development, notification process, triaging of responses, and coordination with the Registrar’s Office and Financial Aid.
  • Serves as the chair for Commencement and Evening of Excellence, Advisor to student honor societies, and supports Student Orientation, Registration events, and Open House.
  • Serves as a liaison to academic advising efforts, which includes overseeing the assignment of academic advisors to all matriculated students and contributing to advising events and college-wide efforts.
  • Assists with leading college-level NECHE accreditation and specialized program accreditation.
  • Facilitates a program/curriculum review process in collaboration with the VPAA and MCC faculty.
  • Serves as a member of college-wide strategic, operational, and academic committees as designated by the VPAA.
  • Complies with all system, college, campus, state and federal rules and regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Master's degree in education, higher education administration, math, English, social sciences, science, engineering, information technology, nursing, human services, business administration or related field and six years of directly related experience, such as teaching, academic /education administration, institutional research, including four years of supervisory or program /project management duties.

Experience: Six years of experience in education, four years of which must have been in a management level position involving administrative or supervisory duties concerned with program administration, curriculum and program planning and evaluation, fiscal and operations management, research education, or related management experience.

ADDITIONAL DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge of program administration and evaluation. Knowledge of state and federal laws relating to the programs within assigned area. Knowledge of the principles of supervision, administration, and community organization as applicable to specialized program area. Ability to prepare budgets. Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely both orally and in writing. Ability to evaluate and analyze program effectiveness and resource management. Ability to speak before public groups and legislative committees. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with federal, state and other public officials. Must be willing to maintain appearance appropriate to assigned duties and responsibilities as determined by the college’s appointing authority.
