Position Overview:
NHTI is seeking a qualified adjunct faculty member to teach ARET 160C: Introduction to Geographic Information Systems (GIS). This course provides students with essential knowledge for NHTI’s engineering technology programs, focusing on practical applications and real-world relevance.

Course Description:
An introduction to geographic information systems (GIS), global positioning systems (GPS), and ESRI’s ArcGIS. Topics will include basic GIS concepts; the structure and availability of GIS data; the N.H. GIS database; creation of maps; editing and creation of GIS data; the use of GPS to collect information for use in GIS; and GIS processing and analysis. The course will combine lectures, hands-on exercises, and an individual student project over the course of the semester.

  • Teach the assigned course using curriculum and instructional materials aligned with program standards.
  • Facilitate class discussion board interaction, assignments, and assessments to foster student engagement and learning.
  • Provide regular feedback and maintain accurate records of student progress.
  • Maintain professional currency in the field and comply with college policies and standards.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: Master’s degree in the subject area or a closely related area
  • Experience: Prior teaching experience and familiarity with Canvas or a similar Learning Management System preferred.
  • Residency: Must reside in NH, VT, ME, MA, RI, or CT.
