Account Service Rep I - NHTI, Concord's Community College

SCOPE OF WORK

Performs general accounting functions in the handling of individual student accounts and accounts receivable within the Bursar’s Office. This position reports to the Bursar at NHTI, Concord’s Community College.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Ensures that applicable students are briefed on the NHTI Student Account Payment Plan. Processes documentation associated with the plan.
  • Contact individuals by phone or mail to exchange information pertaining to the status of their financial accounts.
  • Utilizes software such as Banner, Microsoft 365, to perform assigned tasks.
  • Process monies into proper accounts through Banner student database.
  • Balances payments received to Banner cashier session for deposit.
  • Processes student refunds on a bi-weekly basis.
  • Notifies students by mail or telephone regarding credit cards and insufficient funds and check problems.
  • Notifies financial aid recipients, through banner letter generation, of any loan disbursement and/or refund, per Title IV Federal regulations.
  • Assists Bursar with past due accounts by telephone contact and by generating dunning letters using computer software.
  • Assists Bursar with Orientation/Open Houses, preparing materials to be distributed to students.
  • Attends Orientation/Open Houses to answer questions from students, prospective students and parents
  • Assists with billing activity as directed.
  • Complies with all college, system, state and federal rules and regulations
  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Associate's degree in accounting or business management. Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience.

Experience: One year of experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or auditing work. Each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required education.

License/Certification: None.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Ability to think critically and maintain multiple processes simultaneously. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Experience in computerized accounting systems, PC based spreadsheets, word-processing and customer service. Ability to perform multiple tasks with interruption.

RECOMMENDED WORK TRAITS: Knowledge of accounting principles and methods. Knowledge of office methods and procedures. Knowledge of computers and computer software. Ability to apply and adapt established methods to varied bookkeeping transactions. Ability to perform detailed work involving written or numerical data. Ability to make accurate arithmetical calculations. Ability to prepare complete and accurate accounting reports and statements of moderate difficulty. Ability to supervise, train, and assign work to subordinates. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees and the public. Must be willing to maintain appearance appropriate to assigned duties and responsibilities as determined by the college appointing authority.
