Compensation: $850 - $1,000 per credit, based on adjunct faculty rank (determined by education and experience)

Position Overview:

NHTI is seeking a qualified adjunct faculty member to teach Paralegal Studies. The courses are part of the A.S. program that prepares students for professional status as lawyers’ assistants with a broad academic curriculum that emphasizes the skills, substantive knowledge, and ethics This program is available evenings only.

Course Names: PLGL 106C: Introduction to Legal Studies and PLGL 262C: Criminal Law and Procedures for the Paralegal

Credits: 3 credits for each course

Lecture Hours: 3 credits for each course

Lab/Practicum Hours: NONE

Schedule: PLGL 106C meets Tuesdays, 6-8:20 p.m.; PLGL 262C meets Mondays, 6-8:40 p.m.

Location: NHTI Campus, Concord, NH

Course Description:

PLGL 106C: Introduction to Legal Studies: Covers in detail the legal systems of the U.S. in both the federal courts and the N.H. state courts. Students will be introduced to an overview of substantive and procedural law, legal research, and interviewing and investigative skills. Ethical rules and regulations governing lawyers and paralegals will also be covered.

PLGL 262C: Criminal Law and Procedures for the Paralegal: The student will examine the various elements of N.H. criminal practice and procedure and will trace the steps by which the process is completed from the initial interview through the post-trial procedure.

Key Responsibilities:

· Teach the assigned course using provided curriculum and instructional materials aligned with program standards.

· Facilitate class discussions, assignments, and assessments to foster student engagement and learning.

· Provide regular feedback and maintain accurate records of student progress.

· Maintain professional currency in the field and comply with college policies and standards.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Master’s Degree from a recognized college or university with major study in the field of law, paralegal studies or related area.

Experience: Preferred experience of three years of professional or paraprofessional experience in the field of law, paralegal studies or related area.

Desired qualifications: Excellent communication skills, familiarity with Canvas (or similar LMS) and Zoom or other video conferencing technology.

Residency: Must reside in NH, VT, ME, MA, RI, or CT.
