This is a part-time, 25 hour per week position with a starting hourly wage of $24.36 - $28.38.

SCOPE OF WORK: Supervises and oversees the safety and security operations and staff; develops safety and security policies, procedures, and practices; ensures compliance with rules and regulations; maintains accurate records, data, and reports; and performs safety and security functions. This position shall report to the Business Affairs Officer at Manchester Community College.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Directs all aspects of the safety and security operations of the college including supervising, training, and evaluating security personnel, managing daily operations, coordinating all campus security and safety activities, and maintaining records;
  • Enforces state, federal, and college rules, regulations, and procedures pertaining to public safety;
  • Prepares and implements security plans and procedures and conducts ongoing assessments of the college’s security program to ensure effective and efficient operations and provides direction and coordination of the College’s crisis preparedness and response plan;
  • Assesses college needs with regards to safety and security equipment, materials, staffing, policies, etc., and works with college administration in the allocation of resources;
  • Supervises campus safety staff including assigning work orders, quality control of work performed, performance evaluations, discipline; payroll timesheets and leave requests. Hires, trains, and onboards new employees.
  • Establishes and maintains working relationships with local and state fire and law enforcement officials and coordinates college activities with these agencies, as needed;
  • Inspects all buildings, grounds, and parking lots in and around the college campus for fire, theft, lighting, or other safety hazards;
  • Conducts internal investigations of incidents occurring on college-owned property and refers matters to local and state law enforcement officials, as appropriate;
  • Cooperates with law enforcement agencies in all matters of security, including drugs, arson and other crimination violations on campus;
  • Collects and reports crime statistics/records as required by law and assures that crime prevention information is made available to the college community;
  • Develops and coordinates safety programs and conducts reviews of safety conditions to ensure compliance with applicable safety and health standards and regulations and maintains documentation and records of safety and health conditions; oversees the MCC Safety Committee
  • Investigates accidents or injuries to determine effective methods to reduce or eliminate hazards and writes or revises policies which ensure compliance in accordance with applicable health safety standards and regulations;
  • Provides training to students and employees regarding safety and security standards, policies, procedures, and protocols; Advises and informs students of their legal rights and responsibilities.
  • Maintains key and ID systems and records for the college; campus safety office responsible for the issuance of all keys and ID’s to faculty, and staff;
  • Performs administrative duties associated with maintaining a safe work environment, training employees, communicating job expectations; monitoring and appraising job performance; and managing employee time and attendance in accordance with CCSNH and College policies and procedures, the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement, and state and federal regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Associate's degree from a recognized college or university with a major study in criminal justice, law enforcement, or related field. Each additional year of formal education may be substituted for one year of work experience.

Experience: Four years' experience as a police officer, security officer, correctional officer, or military police officer, with at least one year of supervisor experience. Each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of formal education.

License/Certification: Valid driver’s license.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Must be at least 21 years of age.
  2. Current CPR/AED and basic first aid certification.
  3. Must be able to readjust work schedule to meet emergencies or changes in work plans due to institutional needs. This position is designated as Essential Personnel and is subject to all its provisions.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Current National Incident Management System (NIMS) certification

RECOMMENDED WORK TRAITS: Detail oriented, honest, dependable, and flexible. Possess excellent interpersonal and decision-making skills, an ability to exercise proper judgement skills and thorough report writing ability. Supervisory experience. Able to deal effectively with a wide range of individuals with the ability to handle emergency situations calmly, and efficiently as well as the ability to work well under pressure. Demonstrated knowledge of campus environment and/or security industry, relevant laws, and safety and fire prevention. Ability to work with people and secure their cooperation without the use of violence. Ability to perform investigations, question witnesses and prepare written reports. Ability to work independently. Must be willing to maintain an appearance appropriate to assigned duties and responsibilities as determined by the college appointing authority.
