Orthopedic Technology courses

Adjunct Faculty: $800-$950 per credit. The credit rate will be determined by the appointed adjunct faculty rank, which is based on education and employment and/or teaching experience.

These 2- to 5-credit college courses instruct students in the art of casting and splinting broken bones and muscular injuries. The courses also instruct students in the anatomy and physiology of the body and patient care specific to the field. The program consists of both on-campus coursework and supervised clinical externships.

Instructors will do the following:

  • Teach an assigned academic course or courses in the Orthopedic Technology classroom, laboratory, and field experience setting as appropriate for the academic program
  • Demonstrate teaching effectiveness through use of program curricula and instructional materials that comply with established course content, integrate theory with applications, support course goals, and observe program and institutional accreditations standards
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress
  • Remain technologically and pedagogically current within the specialized field of instruction
  • Comply with all college, system, state and federal rules, regulations, and policies while upholding ethical and professional standards

MINIMUM INSTRUCTOR QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Associate's degree from a regionally accredited college or technical school with major study in Orthopedic Technology or a related field.

Experience: Five (5) years of teaching experience in Orthopedic Technology or a related field or five (5) years of business or industry experience directly related to Orthopedic Technology.

OR

Education: Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university with major study in Orthopedic Technology or a related field. Possession of a Bachelor’s degree in Education shall require an Associate’s degree in Orthopedic Technology or a related field.

Experience: Three (3) years of teaching experience in Orthopedic Technology, or three (3) years of business or industry experience Orthopedic Technology. Availability to teach in-person is required.

Applicants must reside in New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Maine, Vermont, Rhode Island, or Connecticut.
