SCOPE OF WORK: Provides customer service support to prospective and current students regarding admissions, registration, financial aid and student accounts/payment policies. Maintains student applications and records. This position will report to the Director of Enrollment & Marketing at RVCC.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Provides general assistance to students regarding admissions and enrollment functions, financial aid, billing policies and tuition payment options.
  • Acts as the first point of contact for student financial services; handles all financial aid inquiries addressed to the college website and dedicated email and voicemail.
  • Assists students with the completion of the FAFSA and other required forms and with the onboarding of students awarded work-study.
  • Advises students, families and the college community about certain financial aid policies and procedures.
  • Provides assistance with general questions related to student accounts and the proper usage of Web tools (including but not limited to, SIS email, online payment plan, online web admissions application, and FAFSA).
  • Utilizes various software and databases including but not limited to Banner, MS Office, and other private software; to process recruitment and enrollment activities and information.
  • Processes student admissions applications.
  • Assists in the compliance of admissions policies, procedures, and forms to improve students service and office efficiency.
  • Communicates scholarship opportunities to the College community and assists at college events such as Open Houses, Orientations and Express Admissions.
  • Maintains knowledge/function of other administrative offices and college departments.
  • Complies with all System, College, State and Federal rules and regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Associate degree from a recognized college. Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience.

Experience: Two (2) years’ experience in a business and/or education environment with experience in administrative or technical support, providing information to others and/or customer service. Each additional year of approved experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Strong organizational and sales skills, written and oral communication skills and an ability to work effectively with individuals of diverse cultures. A working knowledge of college or university operations and programs. Ability to work autonomously and a history of innovation.

RECOMMENDED WORK TRAITS: Knowledge and understanding of enrollment management practices and functions. Knowledge of English, spelling and arithmetic. Knowledge of the procedures and practices involved in interviewing. Knowledge of office record keeping and reporting. Ability to gather, assemble, correlate and analyze facts and identify existing or potential problems. Ability to contribute to the development of sound operational procedures. Ability to make sound judgment in appraising situations and making routine decisions. Ability to follow specific instructions in gathering facts, data or resources in organizing required information. Ability to meet with prospective students and explain programs sponsored by the college or department. Ability to present ideas clearly and effectively. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Must be willing to maintain appearance appropriate to assigned duties and responsibilities as determined by the college.
