Compensation: $825 - $975 per credit, based on adjunct faculty rank (determined by education and experience)
Position Overview:
NHTI is seeking a qualified adjunct faculty member to teach Manufacturing and Materials Processing. This course provides students with a basic understanding of traditional methods of materials processing used in product manufacturing. The focus is on practical applications and real-world relevance.

- Credits: 4
- Lecture Hours: 3 hours weekly
- Lab/Practicum Hours: 3 hours per week
- Schedule: Lecture Tues 2:00 pm to 4:50 pm, Labs Thurs 9 am to 11:50 pm and Thurs 2 pm to 4:50 pm
- Location: NHTI Campus, Concord, NH
Course Description:
Provides a basic understanding of traditional methods of materials processing used in product manufacturing. Through lectures, demonstrations, and first-hand lab exposure, the student is given the theory and applications of each process. The following are covered: casting, extruding, forging, molding, forming, heat treating, joining, and an introduction to machining methods, both conventional and numerically controlled.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach the assigned course using provided curriculum and instructional materials aligned with program standards. This is a face-to-face course, but LMS software (Canvas) is used to manage the course.
- Facilitate class discussions, assignments, and assessments to foster student engagement and learning.
- Teach machine shop lab with a maximum student to teacher ratio of 5:1. Strong emphasis on safe shop practices.
- Provide regular feedback and maintain accurate records of student progress.
- Maintain professional currency in the field and comply with college policies and standards.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Manufacturing or related engineering discipline.
- Experience: Demonstrated machine shop experience using precision measurement tools (caliper, micrometer, etc.), manual lathe, mill, and surface grinder. Prior teaching experience and familiarity with Canvas (or similar LMS) preferred.
- Residency: Must reside in NH, VT, ME, MA, RI, or CT.
